Stacey Walker King is the Chief Brand Officer of MACRO, overseeing all the creative and brand strategy and experiential activities for the multiplatform media company. Among her recent achievements in this role, King created and launched the company’s annual events—The MACRO Lodge at the Sundance Film Festival, The MACRO X HBCU Summit and The MACRO Pre-Oscars Party and other events that have become must-attend on the annual calendar.
Her passion has always been creating marketing. She began her career in the fashion and beauty world, starting in the New York buying offices at Saks Fifth Avenue where she worked with luxury brands such as Badgley Mischka and La Perla. When the cosmetics world beckoned two years later, King joined the global marketing department at industry giant Avon Products, and later went on to create two blockbuster brands for upstart cosmetics firm AM Cosmetics, makers of Wet n Wild. King switched coasts in 1998, where she became Fashion Director of LA-based ShoppingTheWorld.com. She was responsible for creating fashion content for the site’s online magazine and, through her outreach to over 2000 emerging designers from around the globe, she was instrumental in building the site’s internationally-inspired commerce areas as well.
It was at ShoppingTheWorld that she founded iCovet, initially as a biweekly column to highlight the exclusive products she discovered in her travels to Europe. She soon expanded the online column into a full-fledged business in 2000, promoting designers and products through exclusive pop-up retail events around Los Angeles. The success of these mini-boutiques spawned iCovet…Shop, a personal shopping company geared to style-conscious but time-starved men and women. To answer a need she uncovered with her private clients, King launched Lavande SWK in 2006, a line of fine intimate apparel and luxe underpinnings. The collection, made exclusively of imported silks and laces with vintage inspired trims and finishes, is currently sold in upmarket boutiques and specialty stores and has been featured in Women’s Wear Daily, DailyCandy, OK! Magazine and Essence.
After taking a few years to start and raise her family, King returned to the business world at MACRO, initially as a silent player in supporting the King family business. She saw an immediate need to expand the outreach and build community in a way that only MACRO was uniquely positioned to do. She began curating intimate tastemaker events that established the MACRO community in Hollywood and beyond. Her events and activations have been featured in publications such as THR, Variety, Essence and Los Angeles Times and gained the attention and support of Fortune 500 companies, creators A-list and emerging talent.
King holds a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University.
